Tar Heel Service Days

#ServeCarolina  – Alumni, please help spread the word via your favorite social medial outlet.

This year, Carolina alumni and friends will participate in Tar Heel Service Day on University Day, Oct. 12. Not to worry, all projects from Monday, Oct. 7, to Sunday, Oct. 13, will be recognized.

We are going to have 2 events for Tar Heel Service Week, 1) Helping Hands on Tues, 10/8, and 2) Central Texas Food Bank on Thurs, 10/10. We hope you can make one of these events close to you.

 

Helping Hand Home – Tuesday 10/8/19

For the Helping Hand Home project, we will gather at 6:00 PM to plant flowers boxes and pots. We will need no more than ten volunteers, so please RSVP to Louise at louise.mcnutt@alumni.unc.edu to secure your spot for an evening of beatification at the Helping Hand Home for Children!

The Home is located at 3804 Avenue B, Austin, TX 78751. Parking is available for visitors marked near the main entrance or feel free to find street parking off Avenue B.

 

Central Texas Food Bank – Thursday  10/10/19

6500 Metropolis Drive

UNC Alumni ATX Chapter will be volunteering on Thursday, October 10 from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Central Texas Food Bank (6500 Metropolis Dr. Austin, TX 78744). Located in South Austin, volunteers will help sort donated food items and stock shelves. This is a great opportunity for networking with alums while making a difference in the community. Don’t forget to wear Carolina Blue! (Important note: they will not let you participate if you have a sleeveless shirt, open-toed shoes, or are more than 30 minutes late.)

Thanks to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to #ServeCarolina 2018 over 700 Carolina alumni and friends served more than 3,400 hours in honor of University Day. Tar Heels participated in 93 projects throughout the United States and internationally. From New York to New Zealand, Tar Heels refurbished schools, delivered meals, helped with hurricane relief efforts and more – all in honor of University Day.
